Greater Manchester (GM) has been described as the wellspring of the arts and health movement. Building on the research-informed polemic, A Social Glue, Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) commissioned a strategic plan that would help GM to become the first creative health city region.

Orientated towards GM’s nascent Integrated Care System, the plan takes a life course approach, and maps the contribution of creative health to some of the city region’s most pressing priorities, crucially identifying key points at which creative health can mitigate the social determinants of health. Six areas of work are outlined, centred on: leadership; knowledge; commissioning; workforce development; evidence; and communication.
