Increased investment in Creativity and Health Calderdale
West Yorkshire

Calderdale saw an increase in the investment for Creative Health from the initial £90,000 invested to c. £850,000 after 12-18 months, of which approximately half comes from within the system, and half from other sources.

The initial investment, in part funded by Arts Council England Strategic Funds, the CCG and other partners, supported an Arts and Health Programme Manager post for one year with a £30,000 project budget.  That post holder was able to work with Creative Minds -  constituted as a linked Charity to South West Yorkshire Partnership Trust (SWYPT) -  as well as with Arts Council England and other trusts and foundations to cover core costs and salaries.

Being a member of SWYPT staff and attending departmental meetings, the Programme Manager was aware of opportunities to utilise non-recurrent funds to further creative health work and benefit staff and service users, in addition to the Trust’s ongoing annual funding for Creative Minds commissioning.   The Programme Manager commented that attracting funding from outside the system was key to unlocking investment from within.
