Example of: Involving people with lived experience

LENs
National

LENs, is a national network of people who believe in the benefits of creative and cultural engagement to individual and collective wellbeing. It is steered by champions from the nine regions in England. LENs encourage national, regional, and local organisations to develop co-creation and co-production strategies to embed the voices of lived experience at the heart of the creative health and wellbeing movement.

LENs has worked with Comic Relief as part of their assessment panel for funding, with each Comic Relief assessor teamed with a member from LENs. They were able to offer a nuanced understanding of what are often complex socio-economic situations that can be experienced differently by different groups.

LENs was a collaborator on the Community Covid research project led by University College London, which investigated how participants who self-identified as vulnerable and shielding were engaging with community assets and cultural activities during the national lockdowns. Participants’ voices and their experiences of using creativity was represented throughout the final Community Covid report.

They were able to offer a nuanced understanding of what are often complex socio-economic situations that can be experienced differently by different groups.
