Example of: Knowledge exchange to support management of additional needs
Arts Lab
Cornwall and The Isles Of Scilly
Having established the Creative Health and Wellbeing Partnership, Arts Well and community arts organisation Feast were invited to put a proposal to Headstart Kernow to use creative approaches to address the mental and emotional health needs of young people age 10 – 16 across Cornwall. 40 different projects are being delivered by over 30 artists and arts organisations and involving over 1000 young people. Artists are delivering projects in line with the young people's interests, and are encouraging the young people to shape the project design as much as possible.
Headstart Kernow offered to deliver Trauma Informed Practice training to all artists involved, which was combined with Arts Well’s training on aligning practice to ‘Five Ways to Wellbeing’.
Attending training was made a condition of working on the programme, with this expectation set out at application stage. Successful practitioners were paid to attend training, an important factor for freelance practitioners.
