Creative Minds
West Yorkshire

Creative Minds is a charity founded and hosted by South West Yorkshire Partnership Foundation Trust (SWYPFT) with the charitable aim to develop creative activities in partnership with community organisations that help improve the health and wellbeing of people who use Trust services.

The model that the charity pioneered 10 years ago refers to the organisations and individuals it funds as ‘partners’, distributing approximately £30,000 - £60,000 in small grants of up to £3000  in one or two funding rounds per year.   It is expected that ‘partners’ in receipt of grants will match fund 50% of the total cost of a project through other means.

The intention of these compact ‘micro commission’  grants is to stimulate projects and capacity build within communities to support community and peer led initiatives with SWYPFT service users and has supported a diverse range of projects, from sport and physical activity to art and music.  Some applications are made to deliver time limited projects.  Others seek to support an access fund so that courses can be offered free to those being referred to mental health services (for example).

It is expected that ‘partners’ in receipt of grants will match fund 50% of the total cost of a project through other means.
