Example of: Practitioner supervision and opportunities to talk through challenges and concerns

Torbay Culture Arts, Health and Wellbeing Programme
Devon

To provide ongoing support to creative practitioners in Torbay delivering on the Creative Health programme and to support best conditions of success, practitioners were given paid time to undertake weekly reflective writing about their experiences of the sessions and the experiences of participants.  This would be submitted by email to the Programme Manager weekly, who would pick up any concerns in conversation, escalate any safeguarding issues to partner organisations or discuss any challenges around operational delivery.

Paid supervision was provided by one of the programme managers, who was also a qualified mental health clinician.   Practitioners were brought together for group sharing sessions at the beginning, mid point and end point of the programme to share learning and discuss any challenges.

As the programme developed, project ‘reference groups’ were established made up of partner organisations and representatives of user groups to join those beginning, mid point and end point meetings.  This enabled joint reflection and problem solving.

Practitioners were brought together for group sharing sessions at the beginning, mid point and end point of the programme to share learning and discuss any challenges.
