Example of: Understanding need through networking
Thriving Calderdale Partnership
West Yorkshire
The National Academy for Social Prescribing and Arts Council England’s Thriving Communities fund was created to support local projects to bring together place-based partnership to increase and improve the range and reach of available social prescribing community activities – especially for those people most impacted by Covid-19 and health inequalities.
In Calderdale the Thriving Communities partnership, led by Artworks, The Everybody School of Art, helps better understand need within the community as it connects GPs and social prescribing link workers, who have first hand understanding of the needs and connects them with arts organisations to discuss how they can help.
This has been challenging at times because some of the concepts can be very abstract and with discussion finely balanced between so many viewpoints it can be difficult to come to a decision, rather than do more intelligence gathering or thinking. The response to move discussion into action has been to create smaller sub-groups to talk about different key areas for development.
